Rosewood and Brass Desk Ole Wanscher

Description

A Brazilian rosewood desk designed by Ole Wanscher and made by cabinetmaker A.J. Iversen.
The desk boasts many subtle design features that balance practicality and elegance. A solid rosewood band runs around the top and under edge of the desk to give it durability. These top and bottom bands are exquisitely incised with 4 and 1 lines respectively. The legs of the desk are also incised and capped with brass shoes for protection from mopping/brushing around them.
Each of the four drawers run all the way to the back of the desk and are made from solid wood. The drawers are constructed using dovetail joinery but the joins are concealed by rosewood veneer.
The condition, grain, colour and patina of the wood and brass are excellent.
