Two Seat Settee Danish Master Cabinetmaker

Description

A two seat settee designed and made by a Master Cabinetmaker in Denmark circa 1930-1940s.

The exquisitely sharp yet flowing curvaceous lines of the sofa make the high-level of consideration gone into its design and the quality of its execution unmistakable.
In addition to the above, the settee's graceful masculinity, seen in the play between the block mahogany legs with their simple incised decoration and the delicately zigzagged material buttons, is strongly reminiscent of early Peter Hvidt and Jacob Kjær's designs.

The sofa has been fully but faithfully restored and reupholstered in the highest quality linen with tan leather piping.

Whilst the overall proportions of the piece are petite the seating space is generous.
Both the two loose cushions and seat beneath are sprung, the inner corners gently curve to cradle the sitter, resulting in a very comfortable sofa.
