Eight Teak & Leather Chairs

Description:

A set of eight teak chairs complete with woven leather backs and recently reupholstered seats in an ivory cotton jacquard. 

Designed in 1955 by Finnish designer and interior architect, Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, and made during the 1950s by Huonekalu Mikko Nupponen Oy of Finland, these chairs were part of the ‘Näyttely’, or ‘Exhibition’ series, so-called in reference to Majander Oy, the furniture store which held furniture exhibitions throughout the 1930s.

The design of the Näyttely chairs have had many iterations, from caned backs, to leather seats. This set, however, features woven seat backs in a richly patinated, cognac leather. The seats of the set have recently been reupholstered in an ivory cotton jacquard, echoing the woven accent of the seat back and contrasting the stained teak frames of the chairs.

The chairs and table are available separately or as a set.
