Bamboo Wall Light
Danish, 1950s

£750

Description:

A bamboo wall light made in Denmark during the 1950s.

Projecting from the wall, as though it were a branch growing from it, this playful wall light is made from a single branch of bamboo affixed to a small wooden plate. The wire of the wall light has been threaded through the bamboo, from which hangs a custom lampshade.

This wall light dates to the 1950s, and would have been perfectly placed in a scheme of complementary rattan furniture, a popular material for domestic furniture which found renewed popularity in the Victorian era, and again during the mid 20th-century when such materials might have evoked memories of warmer climates.

This wall light has been fully rewired with a UK standard plug, brown antique-effect cord, and a conical lampshade in a lightly textured cotton-linen fabric.

Another bamboo wall light is also available in our online catalogue, and can be found here. Pictured last, both lights make a pleasing non-matching pair and have been finished with the same shades.
