12-Armed Glass & Iron Chandelier
Erik Höglund
Sweden, 1960s

£3,500

Description:

A wrought-iron and pressed-glass chandelier designed by Erik Höglund for Kosta Boda during the 1960s.

The blackened wrought-iron framework of this 12-armed chandelier is adorned with a frothy constellation of pressed glass circles. Pressed into the larger medallions, which hang beneath each candle holder and drip pan, is either a small fish or square face.

This playful inclusion of figurative detail is typical of Höglund's designs for Kosta Boda during this period, and could also be seen in his popular "People" series of decanters that were designed for Kosta Boda in 1957.
