Wall-Mounted Wicker
Magazine Rack
Carl Auböck II, 1950s
Description:
A wall mounted magazine rack designed by Carl Auböck II during the 1950s.
Quintessential of the designs of the 2nd Carl Auböck, the design of this exceptional wall-mounted magazine rack is an exploration in shape and line, reflective of his time spent at the Bauhaus. The sling of the magazine rack is constructed from wicker, a recurring material used throughout Carl Auböck II's designs. The sling is woven around a simple, angular frame of solid brass and stamped with the workshop's eponymous signature.
The brass frame and accompanying hook are beautifully patinated. More importantly, the wicker sling is in impeccable condition- perfectly suited to many, many more years of holding books and magazines for the most distinguished of readers.
