Set of Six CH36 Chairs
Hans Wegner, 1962

£3,900

Description:

A set of six model CH36 dining chairs designed by Hans Wegner in 1962, and made by Carl Hansen in the mid- to late-1960s.

The set of six chairs, consist of four regular dining chair and two carver. All six are constructed from solid oak.

When asked of his design process, Wegner described it as one of 'purification and simplification– to cut down to the simplest possible design of four legs, a seat, and a combined back- and armrest.'

The seats of the dining set are constructed from woven raffia, a practical and aesthetic choice that, whilst being incredibly comfortable, also imbues the dining set with an organic softness.

This set of 6 chairs can also be purchased as part of a set, including an oak table also designed by Wegner and made by Danish designer and cabinetmaker, Andreas Tuck.

The catalogue entry for this set can be found here.
