Tall Oak Cabinet
Ole Wanscher & A. J Iversen
Denmark, 1940s
Description:
A tall, oak cabinet designed by Ole Wanscher, and made by cabinetmaker, A. J. Iversen, in Denmark during the 1940s.
This deceptively spacious cabinet contains a large, central, shelved compartment, accessible by two lockable doors. Beneath the main storage compartment, are two felt-lined drawers, perfectly suited to house cutlery and silverware.
Brass escutcheon plates are fully set into the cabinet front, allowing the wood grain to be showcased without interruption. The warm, honey-coloured patina of the oak is subtly articulated by a thin, raised, wooden trim which encases the perimeter of the drawers and doors; a small detail which only augments the quiet grandeur of this simple, yet elegant, cabinet.
