Bench No*1463
Frits Schlegel

Description

A rare two seat bench, known as model number 1463, designed by the functionalist architect Frits Schlegel. Manufactured by Fritz Hansen, circa 1935.
The skeleton of the bench is constructed of bent beech whilst the seat and back are woven with sea-grass rope.
The continuously curving armrests-into-the-front-legs give the design a playfulness and warmth despite the reservedness and economy of the design. The natural materials also contribute to the warmth of the piece.
