Glass pendant with metal rod by Paavo Tynell, Finland, circa 1950.
Simple and sober, yet a confident and sculptural design, this piece embodies well the assumptions behind Finnish postwar design, in which refined forms were obtained modeling costly materials by extremely skilled craftsmen.
The opaline glass shade is of a delicate pale tint of green; it has a crack which was previously repaired and is barely noticeable now.
Wiring checked and ready to install, it comes with the original rod and ceiling rose.
