Pair of Brutalist Pine Lights

Description:

A pair of large wall lights designed by brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson circa 1966 and made by Östen Kristiansson AB around the same date (formery Vittsjö Möbelfabrik and later known as Luxus).
The main body of the design is sculptured pine wood. White acrylic diffusers sit atop the sconces and newly made fabric shades cloche the diffusers.
Although the form of the lamps is curvaceous and their edges soft, the scale of the lights and the proportions of the shapes used within relate to Brutalist architecture. The amount of wood used in the chunky lights visually warms the design as the wood is not only apparent but attractively grained and patinated. The fabric shades are newly made in a textured cotton.
