Table to Wall Lamp

Description:

A vintage table/wall lamp designed by Helena Frantova circa 1950 and made by Okolo, Czechoslovakia, 1953. Although clearly inspired by science and the space race the light is nicknamed the ‘China’/‘Chinese’ lamp. This is on account of the shape of the shade which is reminiscent of conical hats worn in East, South & Southeast Asia.
The green cotton shade is newly made but to the design of the original.
The apex of the triangular base can be hooked over a wall fitting to convert the piece from a table lamp to a wall light -in one simple move. The light is able to make this ‘move’ thanks to the fact that the rocket shaped body twists around the metal wire base.

The light has been fully restored although retains sympathetic details such as the original switch and cloth covered braided wire cable.
